P1010028Over the next few weeks you may notice some work being carried out at the Whales grave area along Moana Road.
Council is implementing part of the plan for the Lysnar and Wainui Beach Reserves.

What is happening to the Norfolk Pines?
They will not be removed during the life of the current 10 year reserve management plan. Only maintenance work will be carried out on these trees. They will have some of their lower branches removed to improve resident’s sea views.

What else is Council doing in this area?
- Removing plant pests and exotic plants
- Replacing them with low-growing native plants such as flax
- Removing the existing fence and replacing it with bollards to prevent vehicles parking on the graves
- Moving the heritage sign to the northern car park end of the whale grave area
