Gisborne District Council New Strategy:
A management team has identified 10 challenges that it believes the organisation(GDC) needs to meet to achieve Council’s mission and vision. GDC 10 Strategic Challenges
The outcomes that GDC now seek are:
1) An organisation that focuses on understanding current and future customer/community needs and addresses them in a way that increases value.
2) Our business processes are optimised to produce high quality results within the political, regulatory and compliance environment.
3) Council is a high performer within its preferred cultural framework.
4) A close and effective working relationship exists between elected members and staff that better contributes to community well-being.
5) We inter-connect with the community through collaboration and effective communication and there is an effective Māori contribution to Council decision making.
6) The right projects are delivered at the right place, right price, right time.
7) Natural resource use and development is supported to be sustainable through effective leadership collaboration, advocacy, policy development and regulation.
8) Current and future Council commitments are funded in a way that the community can afford and which meets Council’s stewardship obligations to the district.
9) Communities are supported to be sustainable and prosperous so that they contributeto the district’s well-being.
10) Business objectives will continue to be met despite adverse events or changes in circumstances.
Number 5 Ellaborated is:
Carry out statutory tasks and formal consultation processes as an opportunity to add value for customers and improve relationships rather than as a compliance chore.
Give communities the opportunity to set their own needs and priorities and support them to set up channels with Council to communicate them and get results.
